Resting and pics

I confess - I have been lazy and I am loving it! Granted, it is self imposed laziness, but not 100% laziness. I do something active daily - walk, short spin on the trainer, easy swim - but nothing more than 30 minutes, and nothing intense. I am sleeping a lot. Typically most days I get back home around 3, 3:30, and work out until 6pm when I get Petru. This week I took a nap every single day. Yes, I slept for 2 hours in the middle of the day, and then had no problem going to bed and sleeping 8 more hours or so during the night. Guess my body needed the rest. And sleep = recovery. I like that. Besides sleeping, I have been catching up on work, getting an appt for a proper bike fit - my bike shop hooked me up with a specialist who will give me a 3 h fitting using a cheap triathlon bike that the bike shop will lend me. Then, based on the test they'll help me pick a bike within my budget that fits with my body type, and then I'll go back to get fitted again. Tomorrow I am getting a kurt kinetic trainer with a power meter. In the spring I'll decide if I want to get a power meter wheel - based on what the guys at the shop told me, if I get into using a powermeter outdoors, I am going to have to get blood tests to figure out lactic acid accumulations and power zones. V complicated and I am not sure if I want to get there yet. I am a beginner, and I know right now I'll get better on the bike even if I just ride a lot. Decisions, decisions!

Speaking of purchases, Splish has a sale right now, so I purchased 3 beauties! I'll start masters in November, and am so excited to try those new happy suits.

Baystate pics are ready. Thank you, Capstone, for the 3-4 pictures in which I can actually recognize myself. In most of the rest it seems like I am wearing my face on my chest, and my legs seem to have cut themselves in half. I am pretty pleased to see that my form held during the last 200 m kick (last 3 pics)!

Yay for getting a bike fit! It is sooo worth it! I did the same thing you're going to do before I got my tri bike and I'm so glad I did!

Nice race pics! My husband took much better pics then the official pictures of me! I guess it's a good thing b/c now I'm not tempted to buy any of them. :)

Hi there!
nice race pics. and SUPER nice that your resting w/naps etc! love it, and yes sound like perrrfect recovery.

I think you can get a power tap and not have to do all those other fancy tests. I know plenty of ps who have it and haven't done those tests. and confession: i used my hubby's power tapp for 2 of my races and my training, and if i could afford it, i'd sooo get it. if you can...it would be fabu for you and your progress etc. But first a decent tri bike;)

Rest is good:)
Bike fitting and all that bike stuff sounds really complicated. It is probably true that for now just simple riding would be enough to improve.
Actually today I exchanged couple emails with a former very good cyclist who is coaching now and he told me (to get a real bike, of course and) to keep it simple for now- no powermeters or similar stuff, just ride, use heart rate monitor and once I am more advanced then I can look into more complicated stuff.
He told me he can create bike training for me for free, which is freaking exciting. I just hope he keeps his promise.

Aimee, I did not buy the pics:)
Tami and AM - the idea is that you get those tests so that you can establish accurate training zones and racing zones.
Jill - you are sweet, but really, there is nothing cute about my face in those pictures. Determination, yes:)

You look awesome! Great to have nice pics when you have a good race.

Keep up the "laziness," that's what it's all about post-marathon.
