What a weekend we had! I did Kona, Chicago, Portland and Steamtown - I am exhausted!
Congratulations to all who raced this weekend! I am inspired by all! Lam got his sub 3 after 2 years (I think!) of trying! Angela swam and biked fast in Kona, and when she was getting ready to rip it on the run her calf wouldn't let her, but she pushed through and finished in a time that is impressive to me! Julie Dibens outswam and outbiked everyone but was passed at mile 17 of a the first marathon of her life! These are the stories (and many more) that make me want to set goals and work toward them, however long it take. This is what sport is, for me. Success is measured in how hard you try, in being able to tell yourself that you did your best, whatever the outcome. This is what I plan to do on Sunday, do my best, whatever the outcome! And go for it next time if I don't reach my goal! I hope to be able to make my peace with the marathon after Boston 2010. Will see!
Congrats also to Keri who did a 3:29 in her second marathon (hey, Keri, I did a 3:29 in my second marathon, too:) even though she was sick and had knee issues, and to Rebekah for her 3:31! I know there were some people who did not reach their goal this weekend! There is always a next time, if you want it to be!

Besides tracking everyone who raced, and working hard on not offending people when in the middle of a conversation I'd hear the click of an update from the live Kona blog and pull my i-phone to check it out, I've done some running, lots of sleeping, another massage (this one was soooo great), lots of rolling and soaking in hot water! Running is going well. My legs are starting to feel fresh. My test? Walking the 20 steps up to my house with no fatigue - I am not there yet! I have 30 miles or so next week, mostly easy with a few strides, pace miles.
So far the weather looks great, 61 degrees and sunny. Now all I need is to get over this cold, which will happen, it seems to be part of my prerace routine.
Have a great weekend! Looking forward to some exciting race reports!

I agree, this weekend was full of inspiring accomplishments. We couldn't pull our eyes off of the Kona coverage on line...it was so fun to watch.
I end the weekend like you, hoping for the best that I can give in my next marathon, whatever that may be. Like the other athletes, we've put in the training, given it our whole heart and soul and now we just need to let it flow. Have fun resting up this week, feeling no fatigue going up those stairs is a great sign. I'm kind of jealous :) .
Sooo true. I watched Kona coverage and those athletes are amazing!
I know that people had hard time in Chicago but as you said that's what sport it about, try your best in even less-than-perfect conditions.
It makes me want to run marathon and see what I can do when I really race it, not just jog it for fun. But I know I cannot:( Will have to wait couple more years.
It was a good weekend for you to get pumped for your marathon, wasn't it?
30miles in pre-marathon week? Wow. That's a lot.
I am excited to see how you do! I might be internet stalking for race results...
I'm exhausted from all the races this weekend, too. My heart went out to Julie in the marathon, what an amazing woman though. Hope you feel better soon and back on track!!
Thank you so much! If our similar race times is any indication that I have the potential to follow in your footsteps then I am humbled because YOU are an inspiration to ME. I look up to you for advice, training, etc. and you are always so gracious to give it. Thank you!
I hope that you will feel rested and the pep in your step comes back! I am totally jealous of the massage....I need one of those too! Have a great week!
It was a great weekend at the races, to be sure! Love how Mirinda pulled out the win with that smokin' run.
