Yes, I have been watching too much basketball.
I don't normally watch but it is a ton of fun to watch with Chris; basketball is for him what running is for me:)
Anyhow, in my search to fit an 8 mile run, a 90 min bike ride, an icebath and a shower before getting Petru from school at 6pm on Wednesday last week, I managed to slip in the bathroom and land on my tailbone. OMG! Hurt, Hurt, Hurt! First thing that came to my mind as I sat on the ground was "s$#$#, training, training, training?". After a minute or so I moved my legs slowly, and figured I was OK. I had some pain walking, but got myself dressed, put an icepack on, and drove to get Petru from school. I have been icing since, but I still have pain when sitting. I can swim and bike pain free, but running is painful for the first 5 miles or so, or if I try to go fast. I talked to a few ortho fellows at work and they said running is OK, as the pain does not mean "damage", and will likely stick around for a month or so.
How ironic! I managed to stay injury free while swim/bike/running more than ever, but I did not manage to keep my balance on the bathroom floor....

Oh no! That's a bummer. Isn't there some statistic about most accidents happening in the bathroom? Rest up and feel better quickly!
Gosh, that always happens to me! Usually though, I slip on our stairs and slide down two or three, pop up and pray I didn't break, sprain or tear anything! I'm so happy you didn't injure yourself, be careful!
Ouch I really feel for you. Heal up fast!
OUCH. Hope it heals quickly!!
Injuries sustained by athletic types when not doing anything *remotely* athletic are not cool. Best to invent an alternative story to tell your friends (who don't read this blog)! Hope you are ok soon. Paul :-)
Ouch! Thank goodness you can continue training like a crazy lady!
Ouch! That sounds a bit painful! I hope you recover soon from that because you are rocking the training otherwise.
Oh man, I feel your pain! I slipped on some ice once in college with my backpack full of books and grocery bags in each hand. Right on my tail bone. It hurt so bad. I had trouble getting back to my apartment. Then I had trouble running for months. If I ran really easy it was mostly okay, but as soon as I tried speed work it was awful. Hopefully you'll get better faster than I did. I was, after all, carrying a good extra 30 pounds with my books and groceries.
I fell out of the shower a few weeks ago. Zach was in his crib and David was traveling for work. While in the air I had visions of laying dead on the floor, not being discovered for days with Zach screaming in the crib for days and water flooding the entire house. I've never been so happy to be in one piece still when I hit the floor. Heal quickly!
Ouchie!! Hope you're recovering well by now, tailbones are awfully painful!
