I was sent the kinetic Sandals, aka their sports sandals. Pretty, no? The Kinetic flip flop features a soft fabric toe post and quick-dry sports nylex mesh lining for added comfort for after sport therapy or outdoor activities. The unique Orthaheel® motion-controlling footbed features a contoured arch support and deep heel cup that realigns your stride and helps reduce foot fatigue. Durable TPR outsole with wave-patterned tread that helps improve traction (from the website)
When I first put them on, they seemed a bit awkward. They have a lot of arch support, and I am not used to that. I have high arches that collapsed a bit post pregnancy, but they are still pretty high, so I thought the arch support is going to be annoying. I was surprised, though, that after wearing these for 30 min or so, they molded to my feet and I did not even notice them. I am a barefoot when possible type person, and usually have shoes all around the house because I start with shoes on, then take them off, get another pair, etc. But I did not do this with these sandals. They are light and comfortable.
I am not sure about the accuracy of the claim that the manufacturer makes. They say that the shoes are designed to correct bio mechanical imbalances in the foot, thus helping relieve foot pain. They even have a questionnaire to help you chose the type of sandal that would work best for you, based on type of foot and pain issues (hammertoes, collapsed arches, back pain, heel pain, etc).
The sandals are a bit pricey - the kinetics retail for $59 - but they have a few cute sandals for about $30 or so. Check them out, particularly if you have foot or back problems. I am thoroughly enjoying mine!

They are cute shoes. I wear sandals all the time in the summer and have like five pairs that I rotate. Thanks for the review...it is nice to hear that you liked them:)
Interesting. Teva used to make a similar shoe and it was recommended to me by my podiatrist a long time ago. In Hawaii there seem to two schools of thought on arch support. One says walking barefoot causes it to fall. The other says walking barefoot strengthens the foot and the arch rises. 8 years ago I arrived in Hawaii with flat feet that pronated a lot. Now I have high arches and still pronate a lot. I think the heavier people are their arch will fall (which happens a lot in pregnancy because the weight gain is quick). But I look back at analysis of my arches (from marathon expos) before and after Hawaii and mine have definitely gone up.
hmm..interesting. i wonder how well a 'flip-flop' type of shoe is for our feet overall? I only say this coming off my potential heel prob, and I'm not letting myself wear flip flops b/c I need more ankle foot support for the moment- but i'm generally a filp flop freak!
and cool that you were asked to do the review!
Great sandal review. They look sweet and very comfy. :P
Those sound like they are right up my alley!
Very cute. Yet another pair of flip-flops I would love to wear but can't!
I gave up flip flops years ago (my wife said my toes are the ugliest partof my body). I now wear Keens -- they have a toe cover, which really, really helps prevent stubbed toes. Or kids stomping on them.
Thanks for the review. I live in Merrell sandals all summer.
Just noticed your 5k time from last weekend. Great time!
