I was nervous to try them on, because I feared injury. However, the heavy heal of most of my other running shoes, while protective in the past, was starting to become useless as my foot strike has changed from heel to forefoot. I found a pain on sale for $29.99 and figured I might as well try them. I ran 5 miles in them for one month, and today I ran 13 tempo. Wow! I fly up hill with these babies. I ran 10 miles (of 13) temp today at a pace that I have a hard time to write down. Is is placebo? I doubt it. These shoes are helping me strike the ground the way I am supposed to, and I think this shows in a faster pace. The shoes are very narrow, which is great as I have bony feet. I am planning to run my 1/2 marathon in a couple of weeks in these babies. Mine are white, by the way, but I covet a blue and a pink pair!
My 2 month old love: Splish suit
The picture does not do justice to this beauty. Everyone at the pool comments on it. It looks amazing under the water, too. It is thicker than typical suits, and holds everything in, which I appreciate after having a baby. No matter how much I dread a swim, I cheer up if I wear this suit. Oh, and can you belive this was a present from my mother in law. Yes, she rocks! My year long love: Injinji socks.
I used to have monster blisters after long runs, no matter how much I would lube my toes, no matter the shoes I wore. These socks are savers. I rarely get blisters these days, and although I still lose a nail here in there (hey, it's part of running), I have all of them most of the time! Nice, particularly in the summer:)My 3 month love: 2XU compression tights
OK, so the first time I put them on I seriously wondered whether I could possible run in them. They were so tight. But darn they looked good, so I gave them a try. They felt amazing on a run. They are not restricting in any way. They wick well, wash well in the washing machine and are very sturdy. I use to have problems with tight hamstrings in the past, but no longer since I starting wearing these tights. I also recover quickly when I wear them. Initially, I though that maybe my muscles toughened up, but I heard similar stories from other runners, too. But really, it all comes down to how flattering they are, and for that, they are worth every penny (lots of them, unfortunately!).What are some of your (exercise related) loves?

OMG, that Splish suit is AWESOME!! Who makes that puppy? I never get presents that cool! I'm glad your new shoes are making ya even speedier but you're already super speedy (who doesn't want to get faster though, right :) ). It's so great when we find that right shoe!! Have a great weekend...do you have a long run planned??
Jill, here is the site for splish suits. http://www.splish.com/products/womens
Only 15 miles for me this weekend, a much welcomed shorter run!
I love that swim suit!!!!! :)
i keep hearing awesome things about those frees :) i am considering getting some shoes for track workouts, etc just to see what the difference is. glad you know you like those and you have been injury prone, etc. i wear super stability so get nervous about that.
It drives me NUTSO that Nike's shoes are so narrow. I'd like to wear them, but narrow doesn't work for me. I tried the Luna Racers last year and *wanted* to like them so much but they were just too narrow and I could not wear them. Bummer.
Oh, and my new favorite exercise-related thing is my Trigger Point set. Holy cow. It's better than a massage and I can do it to myself very effectively several times a week. Check it out! :)
I absolutely *heart* my Splish suits. I have the Koi fish one, and get compliments on it every time.
and i REALLY want to try the nike frees! really bad...i gotta get me a pair.
I just bought a splish suit (but I had to exchange for, ahem, the next size up. Hopefully it'll be here in a few days. I can't wait to post a picutre of it. I can't belive you have that one!! So funny. I'm glad you like it. I never would have thought....your mother in law totally rocks!
2XU - YES!
I'm curious how you changed your foot strike and why. I've been experimenting with my foot strike since I read Born to Run. I'm really not sure that I've got it or that it's been good for me. I'm also experimenting with leaning forward at my ankles. Maybe, that's too many factors to experiment with at one time.
I would like to try the frees (anything that would make me faster), but my feet are wider than normal. Narrow shoes are painful.
My running loves include Balega socks, my Garmin and my ipod. I wouldn't run without these favorites.
I just bought compression tights the other week for my hamstring. They are great! I love them.
I've been wondering about those Nikes. Maybe it's time to try a pair on but I am SO into Saucony. I say that even thought I have about 4 pair of other brands. I like to give everyone a chance :)
LMC, my stride changed mostly because I got faster. I think this is similar for most people. I did make a conscious decision to shorten my stride and increase my turn over, but that is about it. I think going to the track and doing speed work does wonders for your form.
Apple C. I have Sauconies, too, and love them bc they are flexible. I think you'll like Nike Frees, which are also very flexible.
Wow, you felt like you were flying uphill with those babies!! You talked me into trying them on at least:) I like the swim suit...even though you probably wouldn't catch me in the pool:) I suck at the swimming thing! I also really like the running tights and must get a pair of those before next winter. Good luck and have fun on your 15 miler this weekend!!
Splish suits are awesome. And they last a very long time. I've been running in less and less of a shoe and it's awesome!
I love Injinji socks too! I wear them with Vibram FiveFingers shoes, which make me feel like i'm running barefoot. I used to get lots of blisters like you but now they are a thing of the past!
I have the SAME Splish suit!!! The picture doesn't get how shimmery it actually it is. It's hard to miss at the pool. :)I love mine too!
I need to try those compression tights. :)
I love hearing reviews from others with experience!!! I wish I could try those Nike frees too...I'm with Michelle on the narrow thing. Love your splish!!I just got a new one too and will wear it today to make me fast enough to make the intervals! excited to hear about your half marathon!
My running gear faves right now: Hammer Gel (chocolate)
powdered Lemon lime Gatorade (the powder has sugar in it; the bottled has HFCS)
my Auria headphones, specially designed for running;
my Nike iPod Nano (its not technology, just magic)
Oh, and SportTracks to host all the data generated by my frenemy, the Garmin. Just awesome.
I love toe socks, they've helped me through my last two runs. The compression tights are the best too...I love them! I hope you have a nice run this weekend, I have a short one too...yipee!
I gotta vote for capris: the perfect running wear for spring time. I love the Splish suits too, but have never tried one. Need to get in the pool first. :)
And here I am thinking I own everything you can have to make you run faster ... but I only own one of these items! Which one???? The compression tights, of course, and I love them too.
Are the Nike Free's racing flats or designed for fast training runs? (Maybe both?)
I desperately need new running shoes, but I've been dragging my feet because I just didn't know what I wanted. I knew I didn't want a big fat heavy shoe anymore. I was hesitant to try Nike Frees for two reasons: one I haven't found them anywhere and two they sound gimmicky to me. Anyway, I think I'm ready to take the plunge. So where did you find them? I want to be able to try them on before I buy them (my preggo feet are expanding), so ordering online is out. Thanks!
