Thanks for all your answers and comments about my upcoming triathlon adventure. They've already helped a ton !
I am working from home today and am having a hard time not falling asleep. It's been raining since Friday, the basement is a minilake, it's dark outside and everyone is hiding in. I was supposed to do a 10 mile run with 3X1600m @ 6:22, but when I woke up this morning I refused to go. My 20 miler on Saturday, when I had to come home and change clothes mid run in hope of avoiding hypothermia, probably traumatized me. I just did not want that feeling of cold...everything. So I did a bike interval workout instead, 60 min with my current read, Still Alice, which helped pass the time (v good book) but did not help much with the mood (v sad book). Chocolate and coffee did help with the mood, though.
These days I get super excited about swimming. I swam 4 times last week, and I tell you frequency of swims seems to be key for me. I typically swim Fridays and Sundays, and my Sunday swim is always better! It's like I 'forget' how to swim from Sunday to Friday, and need some time to learn! Swimming 4 times a week was awesome. I found my groove after only a couple of laps. Nice!
I get to race on Sunday! I am as excited as I can get on this rainy day, but I know I'll get truly excited as the race gets closer. I won't taper for it, but I still think I should be able to bring home a PR. My runs during the past week have been slower, since I got nervous about the adductor hip issue, and also realized I was pushing too much too soon. I feel excited to push in the race! It was exciting to read all your race reports! Seems like everyone PRed and had a great race! Hurray! OK, time for me to do some more work! Lets hope the rain really stops tonight!!!

Swimming frequency is the key for me too, but I forget it every once in a while, it's actually the key for everyone :-) Nice job getting in the water.
The rain you guys are getting sounds miserable. Hope it ends soon. Nothing worse than being miserably cold on the run. I feel your pain.
And frequency on the swim when you are just starting out is huge for making improvements. You are already one step ahead since it sounds like you are enjoying it. I hated swimming in the beginning.
soooo excited for your race!!! its so fun to race mid training without tapering and see what your body can do and see how training is paying off :)
chris keeps saying i should start swimming to help with the breathing (he swears it makes a huge diff) but i HATE HATE the water!
I want to read that book! Glad the swimming is going well and that you missed out on the hyperthermia!
I have read so many race reports with people reporting PRs too!! I want a PR:) Nice job on your mile repeats...Good Lord girl, you are so fast!! Tonight I decided to run a mile as fast as I could and I did it in 6:50 and I wanted to puke after:) I also needed about 45 seconds to regain normal breathing:) You are so fast! I read a comment that you left somewhere about how you ran a 3 something marathon with only running 25 to 30 miles a week!!! Respect is what I have for you:) Good job on all of your workouts! I am looking forward to reading about Boston:)
Still Alice is a great book, sad as it is. My Mom has Alzheimers so it helped me to see what she might be thinking behind there. Love your blog!

I'm way behind on my reader. Are we living in parallel flooding/adductor universes? Hope you heal up and the rain subsides soon.
Good bye rain, I hope you have some clear skies soon and I hope your race goes well this weekend. It will be a perfect warm-up before Boston.
I'm excited you're swimming and liking it. I think it is so important to break up the running with other things!
Excited for your race and how you'll do, what a perfect pre-Boston race!! :)
I could not do 1 mile at 6:22 much less 3. I wish I enjoyed swimming! Biking fine-swimming not so much! Maybe one day!! Good luck with the half this coming weekend! Can't wait to see how it goes for you! I'm guessing-pretty darn good!!!!
I'm glad you're having such success with your swimming! I'm sure it must help with the running. Speaking of which, I'm excited for you that you have a race coming up that you can get excited for. Good luck!
I can't wait to hear about your race! I wish I could race too! I imagine you'll be running in low 1:30s! It's going to be off the hook!
The rain was yucky...a lot of the streets are still flooded too. Ugh. Get some rest this week!
