Training is moving along nicely. I am really excited for a recovery week the week after next, though. I feel so much stronger in the pool and on the bike. I am running intervals faster than ever now, tempos are going well, but longer runs are hardish and not fast. For example, Saturday I did a 14 miler with 2 miles rolling downhills, 10 miles progression starting with an 8:15 mile that ended up @ 7:34 average, and then 2 miles rolling uphills. Aerobically I was fine, but I had a ton of lactic acid accumulation. My transition runs are the opposite. My legs seem fine but I feel depleted at the end of them (I mostly keep them at 5 miles). This is most likely nutritional but I just don't want to make myself take another gel. Funny thing, last week I grabbed a turkey burger (bunless) after my ride since I was craving meat, and I had no trouble digesting it. Anyway, this will not be an issue during the race, when I will make myself eat the 800 cals on the bike and 400 on the run.
Relatedly, I absolutely love what triathlon training does to my body. I no longer have skinny arms, people, and I love that. My arms are so strong, and they balance me nicely. And my legs are super strong. Love that!

Mother's Day was low key over here. Flowers and kisses, then 60 mile ride+ 5 mile run for me while Chris and Petru visited all the neighbors for playdates, then a quick lunch and 3 lovely hours of t-ball in the sun (for some reason all the kids kept wishing "Happy Mother's Day" to each other!), and then dinner with the inlaws with lots of chocolates! Yum! Yesterday the boys took me to Lululemon and let me loose in there while they visited the Lego store. I ended up with some speed shorts and headbands. I was not impressed with the other running shorts they had, however, and overall I wished for more color.
Hope everyone had a nice day. In my book every day should be Mother's Day, and I made sure to mention this to Petru several times today. I hope he wishes me Happy Mother's Day tomorrow as well:)

Love your idea that every day should be Mother's Day.
I think it is funny that all the kids were wishing each other happy Mother's Day! :) So cute. You can tell they think it is an important celebration. I think every day should be Mother's Day too! :) I got to go to my Hippie Chick Half Marathon and watch/cheer. Glad I wasn't racing it today expecting to win because the winner ran a 1:25! And there were 5 or 6 sub 1:30's. :) Fun race to watch though.
So glad you got some new shorts and headbands at Lululemon! Love your new pic of you on your sidebar.
Oh, and yes, skinny arms are no fun. I'm glad you're bulking up from your training and liking it! :) I'm going to hit the weights again this week and hopefully get some of my arm muscle and definition back again. Excited!
Your t-ball in the sun and chocolate sounds great! Glad you had a good day girl!
Oh, and 60 mile bike ride Plus the run! I don't know what that is even like but it sure does sound cool. I hope to get more use of my bike soon. I bought it in 2004 in hopes of doing a triathlon and then ended up using it for commuting and then had babies and never got back to that tri goal. It is a good bike though so you're inspiring me to use it!
I think I need to start taking more gels in training. I keep thinking they will work better in a race if I don't use many in training when in reality they will probably just put me in the bathroom if I don't start taking more. Nice workouts!!!! Just a low key day with a 60 and 5 eh....
You know what else gives you "cut" arms! Crutches-ha! Maybe I should just break a bone since I don't like swimming... Kidding... You will have to update your Iphone pictures now-ha!! I have a hard time staying in good total body shape during marathon training-I don't get skinny, just less defined other than my legs. Definitely one of the cons....
Sounds like a great Mother's Day!
Nice mother's day - sounds great. Envy you the 60 mile bikeride, I'm still struggling with my distance. And I am not feeling much progress with my swimming. I am going to perserver though, because I can see it's working for you!
60miles! I'm not there yet. I did 36 on Saturday. I did eat while I was riding! YAY! I agree on the body thing. I've kind of stayed away from strength training for a while because I can tend to get MUSCLE like.. oh well! This may be just what I need.
Have a great day!
Fun to hear you had a awesome Momma's Day - what could be better than free time in Lululemom - FUN! I don't like their shorts either, they fit funky. Nice job on muscling up those arms...I wish I had anything, even skinny, other than my underarm flab - blah. It's hereditary - my whole family was just gross. Ha.
Training's coming along great!!!
who wouldnt want a mothers day with lululemon presents? happy happy mothers day!
Happy Mother's Day! Sounds like you had a fab one :)
Sounds like your training is going well. Yes, I too have gained upper body strength and love it.
Happy Mother's Day to one of the moms that inspires me to know that my life and training will still go on after kids ;)
