Training, working and shopping

On Monday I started my 8 week mesocycle/build period. It's basically what I used in the summer, except I am changing it up a bit. I used to be so nervous about changing plans around, now I rarely follow one. I call that confidence.

Swimming is the same, speed, tempo, long, paddles, and it goes from 5 miles/week to about 8 miles/week toward the end. I am changing the run such that I run 5 times a week, do 3 bricks, one run focused (short bike, long run) and one bike focused (long bike, short run). I do another open easy recovery run (sometime with a bike before), and then a speed and a tempo, one immediately after the bike, and one before the bike. As far as biking goes, one is speed+big chain on trainer, one is tempo (outside weather permitting) and one is long which will go up to 72 miles. I also do 1-2 other trainer workouts, one before my long run, one at some other time, if I get a chance.

Hm, that might not be that interesting for runners, or maybe it is? I love reading about other people's training. It is motivating and sometimes I learn little tricks or workouts which is fun.

I am also using triathlon talk tonight as to not think about work. I just got home 20 minutes ago (8:40pm), right in time to give Petru a kiss, after a frustrating day at work. Politics, I hate politics. That's all I say.

And how is this for random? I realized that the only socks I wear outside running socks (when I run) are my 2 pairs of compression socks (white Lululemon and black Cep). So, I ordered another pair today, Sugoi because the price was right and I heard good things about them. While I was there, I got some GU Roctane Cherry Lime and Blueberry Pomegranate (I was sent a few samples a while back along with a bunch of other flavors, and will do a review on all shortly), which taste awesome and have 2Xcaffeine. I used them on the bike last weekend and wow, I really felt the jolt. I love the jolt. I also put a few other things on my cart, but then I saw the price and took them off. It is so interesting - just the act of putting those items in the cart (even though I took them off) made me retail fulfilled:) I wish this would work with the Lululemon shorts. Good thing the speed shorts are no longer available on line!

OK, I bet you're all riveted by this! Ha! Bedtime for moi!

Yeah, I love reading about your training! I have to read the paragraph like 8 times because there's so darn much in there but I do find it interesting-ha! Maybe I should write less random crap in my blog and more about my training...naahh!

Damn politics! Hope you have a better day tomorrow!

Compression socks. I have now suffered through a 45 second icebath (I'm really hardcore) so moving to compression socks must be the next logical step. Totally laughing at your empty shopping fulfillment! I fill online shopping carts and then don't actually check out ALL the time. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case this week. Lululemon has already taken me for a Studio Dance Jacket AND I have the turbo run shorts in my shopping cart.....

Wow, I was tired reading all training. Seriously, you are incredible!!

I've never tried compression socks but have heard wonderful things about them; do they get really hot to wear in the summer?

Hope you have a less stressful work day tomorrow and spend more time with Petru :).

I LOVE my Lululemon compression socks - they are so cute! I really really love my Zoot CompressRx compression tights best though :)

Okay, I can't even begin to relate to the Tri talk but if I ever do one, you bet I'll be back to pour over your ever word! :)

Lululemon...they must put some kind of chemical in their products that makes you have to go back for more and more...I am trying so hard to stay away but I must go back and get another bra and the tank I wore in my half marathon but just in another color. Help me now! I think I'm good on shorts though.

This Gu Roctane...how is it different from the regular GU? I'm sure you'll touch on this. I noticed that i have a sample of that in my bag of GU samples and I didn't know what it was.

Hope you have a shorter day at work tomorrow!

I had no idea lulu lemon did compression socks. I have their arm warmers (love!). I have some nice pink ones from recovery sock, I guess and some medical grade calf sleeves, awesome! If in could compress my entire body I would! Although I do love me some sweatpants. Ok, now I'm rambling....

You've got some great miles going on right now! And when I was into triathlon, that's about how many runs I'd do also, mostly b/c I loved it the most.

Compression socks--I like them for recovery, but get too hot when wearing them for training.

Confident! Yes. I have been changing up my plan as well. On my own but reading books. It's all very interesting.

you ARE confident but you deserve to be - it's based on your experience. It sounds like a LOT of working out but I guess it helps when you are dealing with a lot of work stress. I admire you for keeping it all together.
