March went by so fast. It gave me a few PRs, but it left me tired and heavy legged.
RUN: 232 miles
BIKE: 25hours and 40 min (includes one week of no biking to taper for the run)
SWIM: 12.75
STRENGTH: 2 hours
PLYOS: none (boo!)

Last week I switched gears toward triathlon training. I am cutting my runs to 5 instead of 6/week, increasing my biking to 4-5 instead of 3/week (will see how my privates will hold up to that, so far 4 has been manageable), trying to ride outside as much as possible (it is much harder for me to ride outside, and I am very slow!), swimming a long 2 miles+ session/week (this has become one of my favorite things), swimming with paddles (I am so much faster with them, and if I cheat with a pull buoy, I feel unstoppable).
I had an encouraging ride outside today. I managed to get down in aero, but it was very hard. I am going to take my bike to the shop and see if we can change the aero setup to make it less aggressive. I am currently set up to be very aerodynamic, but I doubt I will be able to take advantage of that for now. I need to lift the bars up a bit to make it easier to use them. Today I forgot to take my underwear of when I went for a ride, and it was pure torture. I will not make that mistake again.
I am so excited to go away with Chris in a few weeks. Although sad to miss some of the Boston runners, I am excited to go away and spend some quality time with Chris. This winter it's been mostly me working on the computer and him watching basketball in the evenings, in the same room, but not really interacting. We did not have any time for ourselves since the summer.
It's snowing in Boston. My back yard is already white. For some reason, this is not driving me crazy!

A very great month for you that's for sure!!
SNOW! <3 keep the cold weather there just a couple more weeks! We all of a sudden are having a heat wave with near record highs (80+) ekk.
Yay for getting into the aero position, even if it was for a short time! Each time you do it, it will get easier and easier. I think taking it to look at how aggressive it's set up is a great idea!
Yay for going on a trip too!
I need to get your attitude when the snow hits here. If we don't have a snow day I will deal better.
Your underwear story reminds me of one. I was on a training trip to the big island with a local triathlon clinic. We were 1/2 way through the ride and one of the gals had such bad chafing she couldn't keep riding. We caught a ride back to the hotel in a van. During the ride she asked me 'what type of panties do you wear under your bike shorts". I explained that it was best not to wear any. And then I told one of the organizers of the clinic that they might want to add that to the intro day discussion. The guys of course thought they only needed to mention it in a way that meant women were the only ones making this mistake. When the coaches said it a couple of new guys were like "oh, we shouldn't wear briefs under our shorts?" Things you don't think about anymore, but a lot of people don't realize.
Those are BIG numbers!
Nice impressive (making-me-jealous) numbers!
I agree that riding outside is harder. Hm, maybe not harder but less efficient because of traffic, potholes, downhills/uphills and then I end up working like crazy to keep the HR up.
But I would take outside anytime!
How large are your paddles? I cannot believe that I am the only person who is slower with paddles. I thought it was normal, but apparently not:)
Pull buoy is not cheating, is it? I am telling myself that it helps to isolate my upper body pull and thus helps me to get stronger and I think that it also increases resistance.
Great numbers!!!
Swimming 2+ miles sounds like absolute torture! Kudos to you for loving it!! Really, how many hours a day do you workout???
I'm glad you and Chris are going to get away! You need some time for yourselves!! I totally get the not interacting but being in the same room..... My husband works off a laptop and he NEVER stops working. I get preoccupied with my own thing and we end up coexisting when we actually have downtime.... I'm making him leave work at home this weekend!!!
Damn snow-you're crazy that it's not making you crazy!!!!! April is the most depressing month around here. I need sunshine!! Have a great weekend AM! You made me smile today.
@ Mmonika - my paddles are size small, maybe this is the issue? I think the pull buoy makes swimming easier because my legs float. The hardest way to swim is paddles and band around the ankles. But, I rarely do that:)
@ Jenn - hm, how many hours a day I work out, between a little over an hour (when I only have a swim) and 5 on Sundays when I mega bike.
Heavy legs are worth the PR's! and Yay for quality time with the hubby!
Enjoy your trip! The snow is driving ME nuts!! I hope the Boston snow disappears in a few weeks!
A few PR's? Uhh, more like everytime you put your shoes on! ;)
It's silly to me that we sit around in the living room (or whatnot) and don't interact really. A getaway will be way better than watching Boston! Gotta put in work in a relationship too :) I am trying to be more "present" myself at home instead of on the computer all the time.
Great numbers for March!!
Hope the snow is melting for you in Boston...we had some gorgeous weather and then Mother Nature hit us with snow yesterday (but it'll be gone by this afternoon). Spring can't come soon enough, huh?
Nice job getting down on the handle bars, gotta feel like a milestone!!
I felt like you were talking about my husband and I! Except, we went away and took the baby.... but at least we were not on computers I guess during this time!
