* We turned the fireplace on tonight. 60 degrees in the house in June. WTF, Boston?
* I bought a yogurt at Whole Foods when I left work this afternoon, as I wanted some fuel before my run. Only when I got to the train station (about 10 min after WF) did I realize that I forgot to return the basket. Almost as impressive as when Chris found the toothpaste in the fridge several years back when I was writing my dissertation. Stress much?
* It has been raining non stop since Saturday.
* I ran through water up to my knees on the bike path this Sunday.
* Every year Chris transforms me into a Celtics fan; I end up biting my nails, staying up into the wee hours and watching every single game. Game 5 tonight. Go Celts!
* My almost 7 years old has finally mastered riding his 2 wheeler. After unsuccessfully chanting "don't leg go, I am scare, I am scared" he switched to a little song "Petru can do it, yay, yay, yay, Petru can do it" and proceeded to ride with no help. The smile on his face was precious. And good lesson for both of us:)
* Taking 10 days off of running slowed me down by 30 secs/mile, which came down to 20 secs/mile in just one week. In 2 more weeks I'll be just where I was before. Perfect. Truly enjoying running again:)

Sounds like you live in Oregon! I've never been a sports fan but I bet if I was married to one then I'd get in on it too. Fun to watch stuff like that together. So glad you are running again...it won't take long at all to be faster than you were before your 10 day break. Crazy how our body can lose fitness so fast....different for everyone. I just took 4 days off just for travel and because my coach told me to. Hard to trust that that didn't set me back. OH well, we'll see. So funny about the basket!! I totally would have done something like this! And Go Petru Go!! Woot woot!! Where does her ride? Surely not on those hills in your neighborhood?
10 days off, bet it didn't slow you down at all. Just your legs getting used to running again I'd all.
you deserved those 10 like no other, and i'm certain that you'll be back to your usual running mojo in no time. have some days off coming up myself and i'm finding myself in countdown mode at this point. sometimes a little break is necessary to maintain sanity and healthy.
Two weeks ago we had almost 30C degrees, now my heater is on full blast because it is raining and hardly 10C degrees. So not only Boston area has crazy summer weather:)
I do not remember how my dad taught me biking but my mom always says that she does not understand how come I am not traumatized by that experience. I was 4 and just like Petru, scared like hell to fall over. My dad held me and then he let go. Of course I did not realize that and went nicely further but as soon as I realized that he was not holding me I stopped and started crying and screaming bloody murder. And we repeated that process until I stopped being hysterical and rode the bike without hauling. After a while my mom could not watch the whole teaching process and went home. Several neighbours came to their windows to check out what's going on and some later asked my father what he was doing to me. My dad claims that my mom is exaggerating. I do not know but it worked because I am a fearless bike rider now:)
@mmmonyka - that is the eastern european way of teaching. My dad did the same except I landed into a poor old man who happened to be in my way.
@Britt - I know, and I was close to where you are right now. I think our bodies and minds can't handle long streches of training. For now, I am running only easy and for fun:) Good luck wiht the HM
@mfranks - yes, that's what i figured:)
@Amanda - yup, I know you could have done something like this.
We take Petru to a parkinglot to bike. Yup, not on my hills - but we 3 can go run on them in July:)
Laughing at your whole foods incident! I think I found my glasses in the fridge once. And this week I lost my car keys, only to find them zipped into a DVD case I was packing to the car.
I did not realize that i had eastern-european style bike lessons from my dad! No bloody murder screaming, just a gentle hill and let go. You will be so glad Petru is riding! It will create all sorts of fun scenarios. Now you can test to see if he can keep up with your running pace while on the bike. It's like a yo-yo for me and Nathan.
Sounds like a damp summer there! Will we get photos of you running in floaties? :)
Missed this:) I bookmarked your blog so I could still check on you but didn't click until today! Good to see;)
SO hot in Minnesota. 80's almost every day for awhile now. No rain either-just blue skies! Perfect for enjoying life-not so perfect for running but I'll compromise-ha! I will bring the weather with me when I come.
Love the Petru bike story:)
Yes, you'll be right back where you were and more!

lol...about the basket. Sounds like some of the mindless stuff I've been doing lately. What a great feeling as a parent to see your child accomplish such a monumental milestone. Proud mama!
