# Chris and I went to New Hampshire for an overnight to celebrate his birthday. We did an 8 mile run/hike up to Mt Chicoura and had a blast. I've done this hike before, and it is not easy; you go up and up and the last mile you climb on rocks. Yet, I have never felt stronger. Being the type A that I am, I insisted on carrying the backpack the entire way, and managed to get a back strain, which really only means that I have a weak core. No wonder, I have not done any abs since I don't even remember. Hence..
# I started doing Pilates. I have a 20 min Winsor pilates tape that Chris does daily. I did it this morning and I can already feel muscles that I did not think I had.
# I am somewhat back to running more mileage, all easy, all on trails. The weather is gorgeous and it feels so good to be outside and run.
# I am also working my training plan in my head and have a bit of a vision of what I want to do for Boston. More quantity, more quality, the usual! I have a bitter taste in my mouth from my 2010 race there, and would love to smash it with a sub 3:10. I think I can do that but it will not be easy on that course. I have some fast ladies to virtually train with, which makes me even more excited about working hard! Anyone in the Boston area who wants to run long with me?

I love the virtual training idea. I often use blogger race times as motivation to get faster and stronger. Your post about your marathon PR really inspired me - it's now what I'm shooting for, but I still have a ways to go! But you're one of the GREAT runners that I follow and I look up to! Have a great day!
My core is weak too. Boo. I won't be doing a spring marathon, but I'll be focusing on faster halfs. I could probably do 14-16 with you from time to time. You could always add on after or run a few miles before we meet.
I love your lulu shorts! (in the previous post...)
You are definitely going 3:10 Boston. NO DOUBT
OH yes. That bitter taste will be gone gone gone!!!! Sub 3:10 is never easy on ANY course but YOU smashing it-just a GIVEN:)
You are showing me up. I have NO hiking exercise planned on my getaway-ha! Slacker!
I have NO doubt that you have a sub 3:10 in you! I can already feel my body hurting from Jillian today...ouch. And I used to love Pilates. My Pilates CD got stolen so I don't do it anymore but it is great!
Love Mt Chicoura! I drove by there this weekend en route to North Conway. Decent foliage still, huh?
I love reading through your comments :)
Sounds like you are back to it again, and I knew you wouldn't take long!!
Your hiking must have been fun-- I love that type of thing. Totally jealous of your trails.
Very funny assessment you made of me getting so much done. Ha! Glad I make it LOOK that way..
Can't wait to see what you do for your Boston training. MOre, MoRE and MORE!
Yayy for Pilates and you got that sub 3:10!
Just catching up...nice job with the PR, 3:10 is definitely within your reach! Just keep improving and making small changes! CONGRATS! and good luck!
My girlfreind does pilates (at a studio) and she swears by it. Targeting all those little muscles you really never do with the traditional lunges, squats etc. right? Core is so important isn't it. I'ts amazing how sore I am after a *small* core workout. Very telling!
