I started out about 4 blog post during the past few days. I did not finish them, the tone was not right.
I wanted to say how gimmicky the New Yorker article on running form was.
I wanted to ask you if 5-6 hours bike, 3 mile swim and 50 miles run represent a good enough base training for me.
I wanted to tell you about how frustrating it is to see that there is no agreement on proper swim technique (e.g., hand entry, rotation, etc, etc).
I wanted to tell you how I am becoming addicted to compression tights and have forbidden myself from purchasing any this year (I already own 5 pairs of compression shorts and 2 pairs of compression tights).
But then I realize that I really want to talk about racing. So let me share my tentative, incomplete, and exciting schedule for the remainder of 2010 and most of 2011.
December 2010
December 4th - Skyline Trail Race (Middlesex Fells), 2 loops, 16 miles - assuming no snow.
January 2011
January 1st - Lowell New Year 5K - going for sub 20!
January 16th - Derry 16 miler
February 2011
February 21st - Half at Hamptons Half Marathon - going for sub 1:30!
April 2011
April 21 - Great Bay Half Marathon - going for sub 1:30 again!
May 2011
Hopefully a bike race.
June 2011
June 6th - Mooseman Half Ironman - going for a PR!
One week completely off after Mooseman.
One week easy.
July 2011
Back in training. Hopefully a bike racing event.
August 2011
August 20th Vermont Half Ironman - going for as close to 5h as possible!
One week easy
Transition to running
September 2011
Nothing
October 2011
October 16th - Baystate Marathon - going for 3:10 if I manage a sub 1:30 half, or a 3:15 if I don't.
This is A LOT of racing for me. Will see how it will go! I am excited!!!

Nice schedule! It looks like you have some good races set up for next year!
I see you are believer of compression things. So they work for you? When do you wear them? After a race or tough workout? (I remember reading that you have spent the whole flight to Europe in them after your HIM but is there a real benefit to wear them also after something shorter?)
Also I have never received an answer to my question about Immersion DVD. Do you have only that one DVD or also something else? Book?
Nice schedule. Bike races!?! Cool. I need to look into some bike races so I can get my butt kicked big time. (Assuming I buy a better bike.)
I am jealous of some of your races! I wish I could do trail runs and HIM! But I will live them through you:)
Btw, you will definitely go sub-20min on that 5k in January. It is actually not that difficult:)
Nice schedule! I might have to read more on compression tights! I've heard a lot about them and have never used them...so many bloggers have been raving about them today!
Totally understand the addiction to the compression. I have an addiction as well-the infamous 1/2 zip!! Great race schedule! Busy! I'm trying to put together mine as well! I'm positive you'll break 1:30 in the half!!! Also, as far as the 3 high, 1 low for mileage, that was my plan this time around! I wanted the low week to be Thanksgiving because I'm planning on a 5K then. I guess I might just have a couple low weeks! Have I mentioned that I HATE the 5K and sub 20 would be a TOTAL pipedream for me-ha!
Isn't race planning fun? Looks like a solid year.
Looks Iike 2011 is going to be a great year!
Hey there!
So fun to see you're schedule. you've got a lot of races tee'd up for you!
What do you think about doing an olympic distance tri in prep for your HIM? I know you didn't ask for feedback, but this is a blog, so figured ya like the comments;-). I found that a 'practice' race of a sprint, and OD in prep for a HIM was key. Especially since you're going for a PR sub 5
I'm surprised I don't see a full Ironman in that schedule :).
You are always inspiring - and will forever be so for me! Someday I will run strong again - like you!
You forgot to say you were going to IMLP to sign up and cheer me on! :)
JK.
Your base is more than enough... but make sure to give yourself recovery weeks!
Also, make sure you get aerobars (do you have them?) and make sure you get a very good fitting. I recommend Kurt Perham in Maine... a hike, but worth it. A tri bike might be worth considering at this point...
You want 5 hours, you need to this. :)
busy.
busy.
busy.
awesome schedule.
I like the race schedule
I am a little rusty, but isnt 3:10 good enough for BQ?
Agree with you about the swimming technique thing. I get all different kinds of advice on that. thanks for the link to the New Yorker article; am definitely going to read that.
I like your schedule! Nice mix of stuff.
Looks like an awesome schedule. I will ahve to live vicariously through you next year.
You have a great looking schedule for sure! It is so exciting to see so many people figuring out next years races:)
wow! you sure have 2011 all mapped out, i am impressed.
LOL about compression gear. i have 2 pairs of socks, but no shorts/tights.
Hey - I don't know how to send you a message via your profile - are you on FB? If so, friend me. I'm going to send a message to a group of women about Hood to Coast. If you aren't on FB shoot me an email at angvitale[at]yahoo[dot]com.
Inspiring schedule!!! I can't wait to see you hit your goals, it's going to be a great year, I can tell already!
So I still read your blog all the time, but can't seem to leave comments with the iPad.
Anyway, I'll also be at the Hampton Half! I won't be going for a 1:30, but it would be fun if we ran into each other at the start or finish.
Also, what about a turkey trot? The turkey trot I'll be running is the same course as the January 1st race in Lowell...just saying...
