* Tuesday: swim in the outdoor pool at my local YMCA.
The older guy sporting speedos in the next lane suddenly appears in my lane, swimming towards me. I pull to the right. He realizes he is in my lane and goes back into his. This keeps repeating several times. Made for a fun swim!
* Wednesday: decide to wear heels at work
Come home with swollen feet and blistered toes. If I can't wear my Injinji and compression socks with the heels, then no more heels for me.
*Thursday: brick workout
On the way home from work I think about how one of these days I am bound to get into a bike accident. Later that afternoon.... Slowing down at a stoplight. Can't get my shoe off the pedal on time, and fall down and scrape my right knee. Get back up while propping on a car nearby. The driver is visibly distressed and asking if I am OK. So sorry! At home my son is very excited: "We have matching boo-boos, mommy!".

I can't wear heals either! At least while I'm training. They wreak havoc on my knees, which is so sad because I have some nice skirts I'd like to wear to work, but I don't have any nice flats. Arg!
On a more serious note, many of my co-workers have been hit by cars while biking. (I work in Bedford.) Luckily no one's been killed, but they have been seriously injured. It's dangerous world out there! Stay safe.
i see the commenter above me said the same thing I was planning to, i know a handful of people who have been in biking accidents in the last few weeks, one gal shattered her collar bone and had to have surgery and is going to miss out on her half ironman next weeks....be careful out there!
i gave up on heels. so maybe i'm not stylish anymore but i'm comfortable and my feet/shins never hurt when i try to run. well, they don't hurt from heels anyway, they do occasionally hurt though. now that i'm on site i get to wear big manly work boots! very hip.
be careful on the bike!
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragment on my post the other day. You really uplifted my spirits and put things in perspective. I really apreciate it.
Once I couldn't clip out of my pedals either and just plopped onto the ground. I kind of laughed at myself - but nobody asked if I was alright. You must live in a much nicer town than I did.
Do you guys not have those lane markers that float. SOmetimes when I'm doing the backstroke I run into them, but I could never actually swim over them into the next lane. Poor guy can't swim in a straight line - even with the lines on the floor.
wow you have had quite the week! those clip on shoes scare the crap out of me!
your scraped knee is precisely why i am not outfitting my bike with the clip-in pedals right away ... i have had enough run-ins with the ground from running. (and most recently walking ... i was texting while walking, tripped and scraped my right knee. agh!)
Glad your accident was minor. I'm a bit scared to switch to clips!
I had a close call with some bushes a few weeks ago. I took a turn too fast, and hit the edge of the paved trail. I was able to get out of my cages in time but I think I would have crashed if I was clipped in!
Matching boo-boos - that is awesome!! And high heals - OUCH!!! :)
Funny, my word ver is 'dhole.'
Sounds like that opposing swimmer is a bit of a dhole too.
